The PoSTCap Lab: Post-Combustion Solvent Technologies CO2 Capture Laboratory

The PoSTCap Lab for Direct Reduction in Carbon Emissions from Fossil Power Plants is a £550k laboratory development project that will occur at the School of Engineering, University of Edinburgh over the next 12 months. In addition to the funded lab infrastructure development, a series of experimental set-ups will be developed to measure solvent properties that would complement the sub-programme of slipstream units by directly measuring the properties of the aged solvent generated.

The laboratory’s bench-scale experimental solvent research systems will include measurements to characterise:
- Novel solvent properties
- Novel solvent + additives properties
- Industrial solvents in aged real-flue gas conditions
